I downloaded and installed the game via steam. It won’t let me even open the game. It just says that it unexpectedly quit. Keep in mind, this is a brand new computer I bought about 3 days ago. I also tried installing it on my desktop computer as well, to no avail. I will paste the error message. Thank you very much for any help. Super anticlimactic moment, but I'm so excited.

ERROR MESSAGE

MESSAGE External component has thrown an exception.

Hi,

Please put your system specs (operating system, CPU, GPU,...).

Then try to execute the DirectX9Installer and SlimDXInstaller that are in the folder of the game. To get there, go to properties from the menu in the steam library over Lords of Xulima item.

And try again.

New computer out of the box about 3 days ago. Laptop, Windows 8, Quad core processor. If that's what you're asking for :)

Regards

This worked. I'm not computer savvy so I don't know how/why. But I installed what you told me to and it worked like a charm. Thank you, I am very grateful. Grown ups get excited too.

OK I think that the Steam installer is not properly installing the SlimDX component. Most times it is not really needed but it seems mandatory in Windows 8. We have to check it more carefully.

I only had to install 1 component. To clarify, it was the SlimDX component that I installed. It's like you are reading a crystal ball.
